Black Obsidian by Victoria Quinn

When I read the short teaser for this story, I knew in the back of my mind that I would love it. I waited anxiously for the release date to see if the story would be anything like I expected.

It was so much more. And It was well worth the wait.

Calloway Owens, a Dominant, is slapped by Rome Moretti in a bar when she mistakes him for another man. Calloway becomes obsessed with her beauty, strength, and ferociousness. The two eventually meet again and it’s the start of a special relationship; but not before Calloway ends things with his current submissive who just can’t seem to let go…

Calloway has one goal in mind, to make Rome his submissive. Rome wants to take things slow and see where the relationship goes. They both have dark and troubled pasts that continue to haunt them, and they eventually open up to each other in more ways than one. The affection and passion that they have for each other continues to blossom between them while Calloway struggles to hide his dark side from Rome, and Rome struggles to accept his need to care for, protect, and dominate her. Even when he slips up and shows his true self, she sticks around, and she particularly likes it in the bedroom. There are some arguments and doubts about whether to walk away or stay, but their bond grows stronger and gets deeper than either one of them expected.

I got lost in this story, and I was grateful that it was so long because I never wanted it to end. I instantly fell in love with the characters, and I could picture exactly what was going on in my mind, like a movie, because the story is written so well. The ending left me aching to know what happens next, and I almost started to cry at the thought of having to wait a while for the next book.
